11/07/2013 – 26/07/2013
An exhibition by Edinburgh based artist and writer Richard Taylor and the second part of The Residency Exchange 2013, between Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh and Mexico, Leeds.
Working in Mexico for two weeks the artist produced a body of new work; C O L L I D E R, which is composed of a range of working methods and materials.
For the exhibition, Taylor produced durational artworks that together form an installation. Taking collision as a mode to create introductory drawings, photography and texts, the exhibition consisted of other sculptural works that are generative of one another in the two galleries at Mexico.
The Residency Exchange 2013 began in March 2013 when Leeds based artist Alfie Strong spent a three week residency in Edinburgh and produced the exhibition ‘The Executioner Executes Himself’ at Embassy Gallery. Embassy and Mexico are contemporary art spaces run by a group of artists. The residency exchange has created conversation and cemented links between the two artist-run-spaces and their cities.
A publication documenting the residency exchange will be published by Embassy and Mexico.
